Aston Villa signs deal with Japanese mobile network
Aston Villa have signed a lucrative mobile phone deal in Japan to sell exclusive content to an emerging fan base.
The new contract with CWS Brains, a leading mobile content provider in Japan, means Japanese Villans will be able to download claret and blue news, ringtones, wallpapers, screensavers and videos of their favourite players straight to their mobile devices.
The deal will also see CWS Brains providing Aston Villa supporters in Japan with breaking news SMS alerts, matchday line-up SMS alerts as well as daily club news on the WAP site.
The WAP site also provides classic goal videos, match photos and 30 second highlights for Premier League and cup games.
The CWS Brains ‘Soccer Membership’ is a highly successful subscription based service, which is offered across different platforms and networks in Japan.
Villa join other top Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Everton and Arsenal in partnering with CWS Brains, who boast an impressive database of over 150,000 customers.
Russell Jones, Head of Marketing, said: “We remain as committed as ever to building Aston Villa’s fan base internationally as well as locally.
“Thanks to the reach of the Premier League, our supporter club network, new sponsors Genting and our participation in the Barclays Asia Trophy, we have seen a very rapid and recent growth in our Asian fan base.
“We are delighted to have secured a deal with CWS Brains as the partnership will provide yet another platform to engage with our fans in Asia.”
