Chelsea signs new partnership deal with Sportfive
Premier League soccer team Chelsea FC has announced an expansive new partnership with international sports marketing agency Sportfive in an attempt to better market the club’s players across Euope and increase the club’s overall revenue.
Under terms of the marketing agreement, Sportfive, working in conjunction with Chelsea, will promote the 19 members of the squad that the south London club owns the rights to, including new signings Fernando Torres and David Luiz, in order to help the team’s players sign tie-ups with major brands across the European continent.
According to an official press statement released by the Lagardère Unlimited-owned company, ‘The global appeal of Chelsea is one of the major factors in Sportfive’s decision to partner with the London club. The Chelsea squad is made up of player from three continents and consists of 16 national team players representing 11 different countries and includes three national team captains.’
“Sportfive is extremely positive about this opportunity to work with one of the world’s most successful and prestigious football clubs,” said Sportfive chief executive, Vincent Tong Cuong. “We are pleased to further emphasise our presence at the top of the football market and extend our existing partnership with Chelsea to what we hope will develop into a long-standing relationship.”
Chelsea chief executive, Ron Gourlay, added, “Chelsea is delighted to be partnering with Sportfive. We want to work with market leaders like Sportfive and they certainly have the knowledge and experience needed. We expect to work very closely together to build on the club and our players’ global image and business reputation.”
