Major League Soccer Social Media ranking – December 2011

Football Marketing Major League Soccer social media ranking. The chart presented below show the number of Twitter “followers” and Facebook “likes” for each MLS club. The teams are ranked by their combined number of fans across the two sites. We only tracked the sites / account identified as “official”. Many teams have a lot of unofficial Facebook and Twitter accounts but only “official sites” were monitored.

MLS Cup winners 2011, LA Galaxy, have acquired an unprecedent number of new fans on Facebook and overtook NY Red Bulls and Seattle Sounders to top the ranking. New franchise Impact Montreal have been added to the MLS social media league.

    WOW! DC united is seventh , that is not bad for a team that doesnt have the money or favorable region in terms of athletic competition as some of the clubs above it. Very telling statistics these are.
